To use Meshmixer for Ember, it’s helpful to customize it in the following ways:
► DISPLAY EMBER’S PRINTER BED
Configuring Meshmixer to display Ember’s simulated printer bed will enable you to lay out your models the way that they will be printed on Ember.
In the top View menu, check Show Printer Bed.
Click the Print button on the left-hand menu, and then select Autodesk Ember from the list of 3D printers near the top of the window.
Click the Modify button at the top to return to the main Meshmixer workspace, which now displays Ember’s printer bed.
From this point forward, ignore the Print button and module. The rest of the features in the Print module are not compatible with Ember’s workflow and should be avoided.
► SYNC MESHMIXER’S COORDINATE SYSTEM WITH EMBER’S
By default, Meshmixer uses a Y-up coordinate system. Ember, on the other hand, uses a Z-up system. To configure Meshmixer to work with a Z-up system, do the following:
- Go to Meshmixer > Preferences... in the top menu
- Select the File tab in Preferences window
- Check Flip Z-Y axis on Import-Export
- Click Done.
Meshmixer will remember this setting in future sessions.
